Night 16 match predictions

There's a lot on the line with just one night of action left before the play-off at The O2 in London on Thursday, May 29.

Quarterfinal 1: Luke Littler vs. Stephen Bunting

Winner: Luke Littler

Despite having little to play with positioning wise, Littler is a competitor who won't take it easy on Bunting who has struggled in his Premier League darts return. Littler wants to grab and build on all the records he can, so don't look for him to ease up against Bunting.

Quarterfinal 2: Nathan Aspinall vs. Michael van Gerwen

Winner: Michael van Gerwen

It's desperation time for MVG, as he has to first beat Aspinall and then go all the way to the final on Night 16 to qualify for the play-off. With what's at stake for both players, I expect a better performance from van Gerwen after the two faced off last week, and van Gerwen should get the slight win over Aspinall in 10-11 legs.

Quarterfinal 3: Luke Humphries vs. Rob Cross

Winner: Luke Humphries

It was a disappointing campaign from Rob Cross who's eliminated from play-off contention, so he will look to put up a fight against the world number one to the best of his ability. Humphries should use this match as a last chance to sharpen up his on stage skills before playing a crucial semifinal match next week at The O2.

Quarterfinal 4: Gerwyn Price vs. Chris Dobey

Winner: Chris Dobey

Price lost last week despite hitting another nine-darter and Dobey had a nice run on Night 15. Even with Price playing for positioning still, I have Dobey with the upset tonight to finish off his 2025 campaign.

Semifinal 1: Luke Littler vs. Michael van Gerwen

Winner: Luke Littler

A matchup we have seen many times, including at the Ally Pally in early January for the PDC WC Final. MVG's attempt at a Night 16 final win to get him to The O2 will end at the hands of Littler who will be too good for MVG to combat.

Semifinal 2: Luke Humphries vs. Chris Dobey

Winner: Luke Humphries

There's no better way to set up a final than a Luke vs. Luke showdown. The two are set up to play in the final at The O2 on play-off night if they each win their semi-final game, which means we could get four weeks in a row of Humphries vs. Littler spanning from Night 14 to the play-off. Who wouldn't want to see that?

Final: Luke Littler vs. Luke Humphries

Winner: Luke Littler

Littler's form has been very good recently, so I have him beating the world number one before their potential match next week. This should still be a very close game, as we just saw the two play one of the greatest Premier League Darts games of all time on Night 15.

Three storylines to watch during night 16

Can MVG work some magic?

It will take a lot to win the whole night to make the play-off, but if anyone can do it MVG can.

Will Price defend 3rd place?

Gerwyn Price is going to have to keep an eye on how Nathan Aspinall and MVG play to make sure he doesn't drop to 4th place and play Littler in the first round.

Will we get another Luke vs. Luke final?

As mentioned before, there's the possibility of a third week in a row where the world's top two players clash, which could set up a preview for next week's final.
