Plaxico Burress compares playing with Jets to prison: ‘Loser’

What do prison and playing for the Jets have in common? 

Well, if you ask former star receiver Plaxico Burress, then a lot. 

Appearing recently on “The Joint Venture Show” with Lil Wayne and Craig Carton, Burress was asked by the rapper which had been worse for him: Playing for the Jets or going to prison?

“They’re both kind of similar because when I walked into prison my first day, I was like, ‘Damn, man, you are a f–king loser,” Burress said.

“And I had the same damn feeling every day I walked through the door with the Jets. I was like, ‘Damn I hope we can win this weekend.’ Loser.”

Burress spent time with both New York teams, first helping win the Giants a Super Bowl in 2008 when he caught the game-winning touchdown against the Patriots in a 17-14 win in Arizona.

However, his career came to a screeching halt after he accidentally shot himself in the leg at a New York City nightclub and was later sent to jail for carrying a gun illegally. 

He joined the Jets after he got out of jail in 2011. 

Burress appeared in 16 games and started three in his lone year with the Jets.

He tallied 45 catches for 612 yards and eight touchdown receptions amid a Jets season in which they went 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

He played for the Steelers in 2012 and made just four appearances before hanging up his cleats after a training camp injury in 2013 while with Pittsburgh. 

“The Joint Venture Show” only recently debuted and was recorded at the famed Gotham Comedy Club in New York City.

Comedian and impressionist Matt Friend also appeared in the episode, which was released on YouTube on Wednesday.
