Plane pulls miracle emergency landing on San Diego highway

A single-engine plane was reportedly forced to make an emergency landing on a busy highway Saturday morning outside of San Diego — and miraculously, no one was hurt.

Multiple reports noted the airplane touched down on southbound State Route 67 near the Winter Gardens Boulevard exit in Lakeside just after 10 a.m..

Three people were reportedly on board the plane when it landed on the San Diego County roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol. All the passengers managed to escape without injuries and no cars were damaged.

San Diego County sheriff deputies responded to the scene, along with several local fire departments, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board, according to reports.

Video from the incident posted Saturday afternoon on social media shows the plane came to rest on the state highway’s right shoulder, with one wing partially blocking the slow lane.

Officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment on what caused the emergency landing.
