“Pitching alongside Tarik Skubal would be a dream” - Tyler Glasnow gives verdict on Dodgers pursuing Tigers projected $400M star

The LA Dodgers are a premier destination for top talent and Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal is one of them. The Dodgers are reportedly involved in trade rumors for the two-time Cy Young winner who will become a free agent after the 2026 season.

The Tigers may not have enough money to keep him beyond 2026. As such, they would rather get the returns on him by trading him before the deadline.

The Skubal rumors have also reached the years of Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow, who shared excitement about the possibility of enjoying the rotation with the southpaw on board.

"I think it’d be sick if we went out and got him," Glasnow said. "He’s probably one of the most unbelievable pitchers I’ve ever seen, and I’ve just heard such good things about him too. The Dodgers are really big on signing guys who have plus personalities and are just good in a clubhouse, and he’d be a perfect fit. So, I mean, just to pitch along with him in the rotation would be kind of a dream. So I hope we get that done.”

According to ESPN, Skubal could soon become baseball's richest pitcher with projections tying him to a potential $400 million contract.

For those hoping Tarik Skubal will wear a new jersey come the 2026 regular season, MLB insider Bob Nightengale has an update for them.

According to the USA Today's journalist, the Tigers would delay the Skubal trade decision until they are sure they don't stand a chance to compete in the 2026 postseason. However, he also mentioned the amount of money it would require to change this destiny.

"The trouble is that the price tag will be enormous for only one year of service, unless someone is willing to offer $450 million on the spot." Nightengale wrote. "The Tigers will trade Skubal only if they get completely blown away, delaying any tough decision until next summer."

It remains to be seen if Detroit manages to extend Skubal themselves only.
