Thanks to Cade Cunningham’s stellar offensive play, the Detroit Pistons boast the No. 1 record in the Eastern Conference through 11 games (9-2).
The Oklahoma State product continues to put Detroit on his back and proves he has what it takes to be the franchise’s long-term point guard. Cunningham, fresh off a 46-point scoring outing against the Washington Wizards, is averaging 27.5 points, 9.9 assists, and 5.4 rebounds so far this season.
On Tuesday, the Pistons signed a 6-foot-5 former Boston Celtics guard to help Cunningham going forward.
"The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has signed guard Wendell Moore Jr. to a two-way contract," the franchise's official PR X/Twitter account stated.
Moore is still trying to find his niche in the big leagues. The Duke product began his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2022, but only lasted two seasons before joining the Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons gave up on the former first-round pick midway through the 2024-25 season, prompting him to sign with the Charlotte Hornets for the rest of the year.
Although Moore inked a training camp deal with the Celtics before the start of the current campaign, he wasn’t fortunate enough to earn an opening night roster spot with the 2024 NBA champions.
Moore, who’s averaging 2.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.7 assists through three seasons, will get an opportunity to revive his career with the Pistons.
