Pistons called out for mistake that could hurt Cade Cunningham

The Detroit Pistons absolutely have to build around Cade Cunningham. This isn't up for debate. No discussion here. Cunningham is both the present and future of this franchise, and they have to get him the help he needs.

Whether they've done their job during the offseason is in question, at best. The Pistons made a slew of roster changes, and they had to, because that's how the NBA works. But, whether those changes will help, or hurt, their star player remains to be seen.

Right now, it's not looking great, if you ask ESPN's Zach Kram. In a feature out on Wednesday for the publication, Kram ranks the Pistons among the worst teams in the entire NBA for their offseason moves.

The Detroit Pistons need to get Cade Cunningham more help

How bad it is? He gives Detroit a C- grade. It's also one of the worst grades he gives out in the league.

His main point is that the Pistons didn't get Cunningham the support he needs.

"All-NBA center Jalen Duren seems likely to return in restricted free agency, but Detroit traded away Isaiah Stewart -- its longest-tenured player -- and effectively exchanged Tobias Harris and Caris LeVert for John Collins and Isaiah Joe, respectively," he says in the piece. "That seems like a moderate downgrade, all things considered, and the Pistons didn't acquire significant scoring and playmaking help for Cade Cunningham."

The Pistons had a fantastic season. They made it to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. But they're going to have to work harder during the offseason if they want to repeat that success and then some. Detroit has a strong but they need a little more help.
