Andrew McCutchen isn't done yet.
The Pittsburgh Pirates legend couldn't stick with the Texas Rangers earlier this season, but he's now signed with a new MLB organization.
It emerged overnight Thursday into Friday that McCutchen is joining the Atlanta Braves' system.
"According to the transactions page, the Atlanta #Braves have signed 39-year-old OF/DH Andrew McCutchen to a minor league contract," Bill Shanks wrote on X. "McCutchen hit .192 in 83 plate appearances for the Texas Rangers this season before being released May 28."
The Braves are an exciting landing spot for McCutchen. They're a talented and winning team, but they've done it by overcoming a lot of injuries.
Adding experienced depth like McCutchen could end up being a big deal for Atlanta. It could also be energizing for the former National League MVP.

Given that McCutchen has been lingering in free agency, it wouldn't be a surprise for him to first head to the minor leagues to get back in a rhythm. The Braves' Triple-A team plays in Gwinnett, Georgia.
Eventually, McCutchen could find himself in the middle of the NL East and Wild Card races.
His former Pirates are having their best season in years, so this also creates the potential for McCutchen to be on the other side in games that matter for Pittsburgh.
The long-time star will have to hit better to get a semi-consistent role with the Braves, but it makes sense as an opportunity for him to take in hopes of lasting longer in the game he loves.
