The mid-summer classic is set for July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta. Dave Roberts and Aaron Boone will manage the two teams, as FOX once again broadcasts the game. This will be the first time the All-Star Game has been held in Atlanta since 2000.
As June progresses, fans continue to vote for their favorite players. The first phase of voting ends on June 26, followed by the second phase, which runs from June 30 to July 2. The full roster will be unveiled on July 6.
Each team is guaranteed a representative in the game, a tradition that has been in place since the 1958 All-Star Game.
Yes, even the White Sox.
The White Sox own the second-worst record in all of Major League Baseball, ahead of only the Rockies. Despite the brutal numbers, they need to go just 19-70 the rest of the season to surpass their 2024 record.

The likely lone representative for the White Sox should be 25-year-old Shane Smith. The 6'3" right-hander from Wake Forest has pitched well, despite receiving little support. In fact, he has remained sharp even in the face of poor defensive play behind him. Smith is coming off his worst outing of the season, allowing five earned runs over 4.1 innings in a blowout loss to the Cardinals.
He also gave up an unearned run, his eighth in his last nine starts. Prior to Tuesday’s game, Smith had made 13 consecutive starts without allowing more than three earned runs in a game. In a May 16 start at the Cubs, he gave up six runs, but only one of them was earned.
Smith is 3-4 on the season with a 2.85 earned run average. The rookie has thrown 72.2 innings, striking out 60 batters and walking 30. One standout stat: he has allowed just four home runs this season.
If looking for another potential All-Star from the White Sox, the only other logical candidate is Miguel Vargas. He has played in 70 games and is hitting .242 with 10 home runs and 31 runs batted in. Vargas also leads the team with 19 doubles.
Smith is currently projected to start on Sunday when the White Sox visit the Toronto Blue Jays. That could change due to Wednesday’s rainout, which might push his next start to a home game next week against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
