Phoebe Bridgers Rules Top Rock & Alternative Albums Chart for First Time With ‘Lost Weekend’

Phoebe Bridgers is No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart for the first time, as Lost Weekend debuts atop the Aug. 29-dated survey.

In its first week, ending Aug. 20, the set earned 124,000 equivalent album units in the United States, according to Luminate.

The album’s triumph exceeds the No. 6 debut and peak of Bridgers’ previous solo effort, Punisher, in 2020.

In between the two sets, Bridgers appeared in the top 10 as part of Boygenius, alongside Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus; the band’s debut full-length, The Record, reached No. 2 in 2023.

As previously reported, Lost Weekend roars in at No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200, marking Bridgers’ first-time top 40 entry as a solo act.

The Dead Oceans label earns its highest-ever Billboard 200 placement. On Top Rock & Alternative Albums, it adds its second No. 1, following Mitski’s Laurel Hell in 2022.

Lost Weekend’s 83,000 in album sales spark a No. 2 debut on Top Album Sales. Of that sum, 65,000 are vinyl copies, leading to a No. 1 arrival on Vinyl Albums.

Concurrently, multiple songs from Lost Weekend reach the Billboard Hot 100, marking Bridgers’ first tracks to make the chart without billed collaborators, and her first from any of her solo albums. She first appeared on the chart in 2020 with a No. 57-peaking duet cover of Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” with Maggie Rogers. She followed with featured turns on Taylor Swift’s “Nothing New (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” (No. 43, 2021) and SZA’s “Ghost in the Machine,” her first top 40 hit (No. 40, 2022).

“The Governor’s Waltz” leads the quartet of Lost Weekend Hot 100 entries, starting at No. 80 with 3.8 million chart-eligible streams. “Lost Boys” (No. 85; 3.5 million streams, 2.2 million radio audience impressions), “Bobby” (No. 93; 3.4 million streams) and “Kill Me” (No. 100; 3.3 million streams) follow.

On Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, those four songs rank in the top 25 (led by “The Governor’s Waltz” at No. 19), while 13 Lost Weekend tunes infuse the chart.

As previously reported, “Lost Boys” hits No. 1 on Adult Alternative Airplay, as Bridgers tops a Billboard airplay chart for the first time solo and second time overall, following Boygenius’ seven-week Adult Alternative Airplay reign with “Not Strong Enough” in 2023.
