Phillies sign free agent Gold Glove winner from Mariners

The Philadelphia Phillies just picked up one of the most versatile free agents available.

On Friday, they signed Dylan Moore to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training, according to The Athletic's Will Sammon.

According to Sammon, Moore "can make up to $3.25 million with plate appearance and active roster bonuses."

Moore was a Gold Glove winner in 2024 as the American League's top utility defender while playing for the Seattle Mariners.

He has played all but 18 of his MLB games with Seattle. He closed out the 2025 season with the Texas Rangers.

Moore's defense is his calling card. The 33-year old can play all over the outfield, and he also plays up the middle at second base and shortstop.

In 2025, he found himself in a rut at the plate with the Mariners, batting just .193 before he was moved to the Rangers, for whom he hit .259 in 18 games.

Moore is a career .206 hitter, a much better swing from his right side against left-handed pitching.

He did have an OPS of .855 in 2020, then .753 in 2022 and .731 in 2023. There is an ability to make a difference with the bat from Moore, if he can recapture some of that past swing.

The Phillies will likely find a use for him at least at some point thanks to that multi-faceted defensive skillset, so it's not a bad signing as the spring approaches.
