The Philadelphia Phillies are sending six players to the 2026 MLB All-Star Game happening in Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park on July 14.
Brandon Marsh is a starting outfielder, and Kyle Schwarber is likely the starting designated hitter with Shohei Ohtani backing out of the All-Star Game due to injury. But the NL's starting pitcher job was still up in the air for Cristopher Sanchez.
However, according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, Sanchez got a major announcement as he's reportedly the NL's starting pitcher for the All-Star Game.
Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez will be NL's starting pitcher for All-Star Game
"Breaking: Phillies superstar pitcher Cristopher Sanchez will be the National League starting pitcher for Tuesday's All-Star Game in Philadelphia," Heyman reports.
This is a very cool honor for Sanchez, who not only is an All-Star and starting the All-Star Game, but he's doing so in Philadelphia, where he's thrived this season.
Sanchez has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, and while a recent outing against the Kansas City Royals didn't go well, his season overall is very impressive.

He has an 11-4 record with a 2.262 ERA, 144 strikeouts, and a 1.19 WHIP and a complete game shutout, along with a 50-plus inning scoreless streak, in 20 starts across 127.1 innings pitched this season.
Sanchez is deserving of this All-Star starting job, and with Jacob Misiorowski and Shohei Ohtani both not pitching during the All-Star Game, his top competition was not nearly as intense.
The Phillies ace will be starting the All-Star Game in Philadelphia, which is a very cool honor for Sanchez. He deserves this, especially after his All-Star snub last year.
