Phillies announce flurry of roster moves headlined by Brandon Marsh, Bryson Stott

The Philadelphia Phillies are heading into a very important offseason. With looming decisions on JT Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber, the Phillies have to make a lot of difficult signings, trades, and cuts this winter.

While those moves are important, there are a ton of other smaller moves that can make or break the Phillies in 2026. And some of those moves were recently completed by Dave Dombrowski and the Phillies.

The Phillies announced a flurry of roster moves, which included players like Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh getting tendered, and two right-handed pitchers getting non-tendered, as the lineup gets shaken up.

Phillies announce multiple roster moves to kick offseason into gear

The Phillies agreed to terms with backup catchers Garrett Stubbs and Rafael Marchan for the 2026 season, getting two familiar faces around just in case Realmuto departs elsewhere.

Other than Stott and Marsh, the Phillies tendered contracts to five other arbitration-eligible players. Those players are Edmundo Sosa, Alec Bohm, Tanner Banks, Jesus Luzardo, and Jhoan Duran.

All seven are now coming back for the 2026 season, though their final contracts will change based on their arbitration hearings of contract agreements with the Phillies.

Bohm is a potential offseason trade candidate, while Luzardo and Duran will be key contributors for the pitching staff in 2026. Banks also looked to carve out a stable role going forward, while Sosa might get some more work in 0226 for the Phillies.

But, the two more notable moves from this huge announcement from the Phillies were that they non-tendered two players: Michael Mercado and Daniel Robert.

Robert and Mercado are right-handed pitchers who pitched a bit for the Phillies in 2025, but didn't show enough for the Phillies to keep them. Both are now free agents.

In what's shaping up to be a busy offseason for the Phillies, these moves are not a surprise, and mostly all are procedural. The big moves are coming later, as Philadelphia has some difficult decisions to make when it comes to Realmuto, Schwarber, and Nick Castellanos.
