The Philadelphia Phillies might reside in a postseason spot, an impressive feat after their 9-19 start to the season, but there is a huge issue with the team right now.
Following the injury to Adolis Garcia, which might end up being season-ending, the Phillies' need for more outfield help couldn't be more apparent than before.
As USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports, the Phillies are already "desperately" searching for outfield help ahead of the MLB trade deadline, as their big need before the injury has become a dire issue that needs to be resolved.
Phillies are 'desperately' searching for OF help by trade deadline
"The Phillies are desperately looking to acquire an outfielder at the trade deadline with Adolis Garcia expected to miss the rest of the season with his torn lat," Nightengale reports.
Brandon Marsh might be thriving this season, but the Phillies desperately need more outfield help with Garcia likely done for the year, Justin Crawford not breaking out as the Phillies hoped, and their other options being lackluster.
Nightengale noted how Los Angeles outfielder Jo Adell and Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (both right-handed hitters) are on the Phillies' radar right now.
Byron Buxton would be the ideal trade candidate for the Phillies if they want to splurge on someone who could be a top-of-the-order bat, but a trade isn't very likely.
Mike Trout would be fun as well, but he's not a logical option for the Phillies, considering how expensive his contract is and how much it would cost to acquire him from the Angels.

While Nightengale didn't explicitly state a right-handed hitting outfielder being the top need, since the Phillies need more power from the right side of the plate, finding a righty slugging outfielder is the preferred deadline outcome this season.
Adell and Suzuki are two great options, while Buxton would be the top option if he actually could be had in a trade. Taylor Ward of the Baltimore Orioles, or one of the Boston Red Sox outfielders, are options worth keeping an eye on as well.
Regardless of how the Phillies address this need, this report from Nightengale suggests that Dave Dombrowski and company know they "desperately" need to upgrade their outfield following the Garcia injury.
