Phillies $8M All-Star 'makes a lot of sense' for Mariners, per insider image

The Philadelphia Phillies have a well-built roster that certainly could be in the mix for a World Series title over the next few years.

Philadelphia has been building something special over the last few years and won 95 games in 2024. The Phillies didn't make a run to the World Series, but they clearly aren't that far away from getting over the hump.

That could lead to some tweaks within the organization this winter. All-Star infielder Alec Bohm is due to make just over $8 million in 2025, but he has been mentioned in trade rumors and it seems like he is going to be moved.

The Phillies shouldn't make a deal unless they know they have a comparable option to take over third base. It also wouldn't hurt to add even more pitching. FanSided's Robert Murray floated the Seattle Mariners as a team that "makes a lot of sense" for a trade for Bohm.

"They are going to keep that core, that really strong high-end core, but I think after that almost anyone is going to end up being available, and Bohm is going to end up fitting in that category," Murray said. "I do think Bohm makes a lot of sense for Seattle. It wouldn't break the bank at all. It'll take a little bit to get him because he's a really good young player, but the Phillies really want to kind of shake things up a little bit...

"(Seattle) is really happy with where their outfield is, but they really want to improve the infield, and if you can get a Bohm type, if you can end up getting another player as well, that can really elevate the offense."

A trade could make sense for the Phillies if they could snatch a young pitcher for the Mariners. Seattle has a surplus of great starting pitching talent but needs offense. The Phillies clearly want to move Bohm and adding pitching always makes sense.
