If new Eagles addition Jonathan Greenard can back up his talk on the field, he’ll quickly become a fan favorite in Philadelphia.
Just days after he was acquired via trade by the Eagles, Greenard was in attendance at the Philadelphia 76ers playoff game against the Boston Celtics, soaking up the atmosphere.
“That's a crazy environment,” Greenard said of the crowd in Philly, via NBC Sports. “This is exactly what I thought it was going to be, a crazy environment, welcoming, everything. So I'm excited.”
When it comes to passion (and size), Sixers crowds pale in comparison to Eagles crowds, so Greenard is in for quite a treat. When asked what he’s going to bring to the field for Philadelphia, the one-time Pro Bowler emphasized energy at a major position of need.
“I'm gonna bring that same energy I've been doing my whole time in the NFL,” Greenard said. “And bring some more hardware, too. So that's the main thing, on-the-go on the mindset.”
Greenard, who signed a four-year, $100 million contract extension with the Eagles, is excited to play for defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who will be tasked with figuring out the best ways to deploy the aggressive edge rusher.
“I know that he's a genius for a reason and one of the best in the game for a reason,” Greenard said of Fangio. “So I'm excited to see what he's going to draw. I can't wait to be a part of it.”
