Horshel explained it’s “amazing to see” his wife happier since she got sober.

“You got to work the process, you gotta stay with it one day at a time, is the motto,” he said. “Seeing the enjoyment, seeing how much happier she is in life — it’s amazing to see.

“The message I try to send every day on this day of the year and to anyone that discusses it with me … it’s truly possible [to get sober] you just have to take that step of saying ‘I’m tired of letting my addiction take over me and I want to get sober,’ and there are people out there who will help you… You’re not alone in this journey.”

Brittany sought treatment for alcoholism in 2016.

She went public with her addiction in a statement a year later after Horschel won the 2017 AT&T Byron Nelson following a playoff victory over Jason Day.

“‘I am an alcoholic,’” Brittany wrote in her statement. “I say that now without shame. Admitting that to myself, family and friends, has saved my life and my marriage.”

She runs a blog, “The Sober Modern Mom.”
