PFF makes astonishing pick for best SEC offensive player

10 hours ago 1

The SEC is the premier football conference, and it is stacked with talent on both sides of the ball. Some of the best offensive players in football reside there. Arch Manning, LaNorris Sellers, Gunnar Stockton, Ryan Wingo, Ryan Williams, John Mateer, and several others are among the best players in college football and are in the SEC

Which one of them is the best offensive player? Well, according to PFF, none of them. Florida center Jake Slaughter takes the cake there. That may change with a full season of Arch Manning, but for now, the SEC's best is an interior lineman from Florida.

Dalton Wasserman said, "Slaughter was the only Power Four center to earn 80.0-plus PFF grades as a pass blocker and a run blocker in 2024. His 85.8 PFF overall grade since 2023 trails only Jackson Powers-Johnson among Power Four centers. He moves very well at 6-foot-4 and 308 pounds, allowing him to dominate in a zone-blocking scheme."

Being compared to Jackson Powers-Johnson is a huge compliment. But perhaps the biggest compliment is being named by an analytical outlet the best player in football's best conference over the likes of the names mentioned above. It really is a star-studded conference, but Slaughter, who might be unheralded at this point, remains the best.
