Justin Bieber has opened up about how hate comments on Twitch affect his mental health. The singer joined Twitch in October this year to stay connected with his fans.
On his Twitch stream on October 27, Justin Bieber told his fans that he feels "vulnerable" while going on live chat on the platform sometimes, speaking about some of the hate comments he received.
"Going on Twitch is vulnerable as hell, because people who feel sh*tty about themselves project and write mean ass things. It’s already hard enough to put yourself out there, and then you gotta read that," he said.Bieber also stressed how one comment can ruin someone's day, adding:
"You can have one million people say the nicest things and then the one comment gets in there."Fans took to X to respond to Justin Bieber's comments, sharing a range of perspectives. One X user wrote:
@Dexerto People who hate you online are just mirrors they can’t stand to look in. It’s never about you it’s about what they refuse to heal.
Fans continued to share their thoughts on the matter:
@Dexerto He’s not wrong. The internet became a mirror, and most people hate their reflection.
@Dexerto Bieber experienced a unique thing. He was a living meme growing up and had to deal with a lot of horrendous internet shit very few people experience. Now he's a grown dude with a wife and kid and he's still carrying that nonsense. Let the f*ckin guy enjoy himself.
@Dexerto Twitch is filled with the biggest losers out there. i’m one of em
Some other comments on Bieber's views were as follows:
@Dexerto Dang, this dude been living in a bubble all this time?
@Dexerto Fame’s a helluva drug, but the hate? That’s just sad.
@Dexerto He’s so nice, and has been in the public eye so long he can tolerate the pressure… I hope he helps drive some reform on the platform.
Justin Bieber shares one particular comment that affected him the most
Sziget Festival 2022 - Day Three - Source: GettyDuring his Twitch stream, Justin Bieber shared one particular comment about his "charisma" that affected him the most when he saw it on the platform. The comment said:
"Justin’s not as exuberant. He’ll never be his exuberant self ever again. He’s not his charisma."Speaking about his reaction, Bieber said:
"I was like, ‘what?!’ I just played basketball. I’m just tired. But it starts getting in my head. Like, did I lose my charisma? My exuberance? I have a zest for life. It just sucks."When he first joined Twitch, Justin Bieber said he would stream "pretty much every day", and has gained over 200K followers since then. The pop star's last album, SWAG, was released earlier this year in July. He released an extended version of the album, SWAG II, on September 5.
In the album, Bieber addressed multiple issues, including his relationship with wife Hailey Bieber. He also mentioned her in songs like Go Baby. Some of his songs, like Yukon and Daisies, also performed well. The singer has also spoken about his relationship with Hailey Bieber, and said:
"I don’t want to share too much of, like… she doesn’t want me to share too much of our relationship. But I can really be dismissive sometimes, and really not be sensitive to the room, you know what I mean? And I don’t like that I can do that. And sometimes it’s not because I want to, it’s just that I’m distracted."He continued:
"But being aware of ‘I’m just a guy, I can be really impatient, I can be really insensitive,’ I can own that, and just forgive myself because God forgives me. He’s given me another chance. He’s not, like, ‘Get your sh*t together.’ He’s like, ‘Oh, son, let’s go. We got this. Let’s go. You got this.'"Since the release of his album, Justin Bieber has remained active on online platforms, sharing glimpses of his life on Instagram. He has also been active on live chats, connecting with his fans.
