Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is entering his fourth year with the program, a feat that is now considered a rarity in today's era of the Transfer Portal. Through thick and thin, Allar and the Nittany Lions have stuck together, and they are set up to take a massive step into National Championship contention in his senior season.
This longevity caught the attention of one other top QB: Clemson's Cade Klubnik.
In an interview with On3's Pete Nakos, Klubnik - who is also entering his fourth season at his only school - praised Allar and a few other top QBs who have stayed true to the first college they attended out of high school.
Klubnik said: "Guys like Arch [Manning], Garrett Nussmeier, Drew Allar and Ty Simpson ... The guys that believe in the program and believe in the culture that they’re at ... There’s a reason that those are four of the best quarterbacks in college football right now."
He also said that he has "so much more respect" for those players, going out of his way to praise Allar and fellow top QBs Manning, Nussmeier, and Simpson, who are expected to be the starters at Texas, LSU, and Alabama, respectively.
All five QBs (including Klubnik) are square in the Heisman race coming into the season. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Manning is the favorite to win the award at +700. Nussmeier is second at +900 with Klubnik third at +1000. Allar comes in at sixth with +1600 odds, and Simpson is tied for 16th at +4000.
