Paulina Porizkova is not only embracing the natural aging process, but absolutely loving it.
The Swedish supermodel, 60, sat down with Harper’s Bazaar to chat about rejoining Estée Lauder for her second era as a brand ambassador, following her first partnership from 1988 to 1995.
While much has changed for the star in the last 20 years, she revealed she actually appreciates her hair now more than ever since going full-on gray.
Asked what aspects of her appearance she loves more as she’s gotten older, Porizkova replied, “I love my gray hair.”
“It still requires maintenance, believe it or not, but I feel very good about my hair,” she added.
The star has always been open about her feelings on aging, often going makeup-free on social media and flaunting her Botox-free filler-free features.
Many people fear getting older, but Porizkova provides some optimism: “Do I feel younger? No,” she said. “But every year I feel smarter, wiser, and better.”
As for the “best part” about growing older, Porizkova told the outlet, “You finally turn into the person that you were meant to be all along. And perhaps that’s not always a happy finding.”
“I think if you try to live your life with an understanding that other people matter, that connections matter, and that love matters,” the former Sports Illustrated model continued, “then you won’t be disappointed with who that person is that you truly are.”
The model also shared what keeps her feeling so “vibrant and youthful” at 60.
“Hope,” she said. “And how do you cultivate hope? Gratitude.”
Porizkova then joked, “I sound like an Instagram meme, but unfortunately, it’s kind of true.”
“Because I’ve gone through a part of life where I utterly lost hope, I understand what it’s like when you’re living a life you don’t want. And it’s a horrible feeling. It robs you of everything,” she continued, “So, hope is really the most important thing there is.”
