Paul Pelosi’s unhinged driving history laid bare — as friends reveal frightening reason for dangerous road record

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, received several traffic citations in recent years prior to crashing his convertible into a parked Tesla in Napa Valley earlier this month. 

The 86-year-old was hit with at least eight driving violations over more than a decade-long period before the July 3 crash in Yountville, the New York Times reported. He was cited for speeding, blowing through several red lights, and even driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

Anonymous associated of Pelosi blamed the most recent crash on his old age and infirmity, the Times reported.

Previously, in May 2022, the venture capitalist crashed his Porsche into another vehicle at an intersection after leaving a dinner party at a friend’s estate in Oakville. His blood alcohol content was measured at 0.082%, and he later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury. 

In December 2023, he received another ticket in San Francisco after driving his Porsche through a left-turn light.

In 2017 Pelosi drove the wrong way down a one-way street in Marin County, and in 2014 he was stopped by authorities for using cellphone while driving. A year earlier, he drove through a red turn light in San Mateo County without stopping and separately failed to stop at a stop sign in San Francisco.

He received three tickets and a warning during a five-month span in 2011. including for speeding on a highway in San Mateo County and crossing over double yellow lines near the family’s Napa Valley house.

That same year, he was cited for failing to stop at a red light in Napa County and had multiple violations in for running a red light and veering over the center line.

When Pelosi was just a teenager in 1957, he was behind the wheel of a Corvette south of San Francisco when he lost control of the car, killinghis 19-year-old brother, David.

According to reports at the time from the San Francisco Examiner, a patrolman recalled that David had desperately urged his younger brother to slow down moments before the fatal rollover. Pelos was ultimately exonerated.
