The Patriots and Seahawks both started last season 0-1. The rest is history. New England and Seattle combined to go 28-2 over the remainder of the regular season and collided in Super Bowl 60, where the Seahawks' defense was just too much for the Patriots to overcome.
This year, only one of the two is going to start 0-1. The Patriots and Seahawks meet in the first game of the NFL season seven months after they met in the last, and this time New England will have to deal with a boisterous Lumen Field crowd after it watches a second championship banner get raised.
With A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs now in his arsenal, Drake Maye is hoping the Patriots' offense now has what it takes to get the better of Mike Macdonald's loaded Seahawks defense.
Seattle, meanwhile, stayed the course after winning the Super Bowl, which is to be expected. One of the only major changes for the Seahawks came in the backfield, where they lost Kenneth Walker III to free agency. Zach Charbonnet is still recovering from a major knee injury, so first-round pick Jadarian Price is expected to be featured heavily against a tough Patriots defense.
Both of these teams know a Week 1 loss isn't any reason to panic, but starting the season with a victory would be a major advantage for either the Patriots or Seahawks, with each staring down a hotly contested divisional race this season.
