The Chargers are in control of their postseason destiny but face a critical test this Saturday when they travel to Gillette Stadium to face the Patriots.
For the Patriots, the matchup marks the first of two consecutive home games to close out the season. Despite their 6-8-1 record, the team has remained competitive, led by rookie quarterback Drake Maye. While New England is already out of playoff contention, they’ll look to finish strong, particularly after showing consistency in surpassing point totals in five of their six home contests.
This will be the second straight year that the Chargers visit New England. The teams last met on December 3, 2023, in a defensive battle that ended in a 6-0 Chargers victory. Following this weekend’s game, the Patriots will host the Buffalo Bills to wrap up their season, though the exact date and time of that finale have yet to be announced.
The Patriots have thrived in the underdog role this season, playing all 15 games so far in that position. Meanwhile, the Chargers have consistently played in low-scoring affairs on the road, with six of their seven away games going under the total.
