Tom Brady can finally do wrong among his old Patriots teammates.
Several ex-New Englanders did not appreciate Brady taking the diplomatic approach and stating he had no rooting interest when his former team battles the Seahawks in Super Bowl 2026 on Sunday.
Vince Wilfork, who won two Super Bowls playing alongside Brady from 2004-14, called out the future Hall of Famer for his opinion.

“At the end of the day, if you’re a Patriot for life you know what it is. Don’t give me that political bull crap, that’s just what it is. If you don’t think we gonna win, then just pick Seattle then. Don’t straddle the fence.”
Brady made headlines earlier this week when he bucked the alumnus norm and said he would be rooting for individuals rather than his former team during the Super Bowl.
Perhaps his impartial broadcaster views ruled the day or that he’s now a minority owner for the Raiders, but Brady didn’t give folks in Seattle extra reasons to be upset with him after his 2015 title.
“I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one,” Brady said on the “Let’s Go” podcast Monday night. “May the best team win. And in terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England and I’m glad everyone’s embraced the Mike Vrabel regime. All the amazing players that have worked so hard to get their club to this position. We did it for 20 years. There was a little bit of a hiatus in there, but the Patriots are back and it’s a very exciting time for everyone in New England.”
He added: “I really root for people and the people I care about. The people who, I know the work that goes in to what they’re trying to accomplish. I really want to sit back as a fan and enjoy the game, enjoy the moment. I always think, ‘May the best team win.’ It’s not going to be who I’m cheering for or who I think is going to win, it’s going to be decided by the people out there on the field.”

Well, that response didn’t sit well with those he helped make Super Bowl champions.
Asante Samuel, a teammate from 2003-07 and two-time champion, went on an X spree with threats to go “ape s–t about who you are” if Brady didn’t respond to him.
He also posted that Brady’s new name is “Flaw Ass Brady.”

Tag Brady let him know I’m on his ass.”
He followed with another tweet: “Brady you can’t be the only one winning super bowls. Let me find out you hating on Drake Maye and Vrabel. ‘I don’t have a dog in this fight.’ Not what I wanted to hear. Brady knows how I get down. This ain’t nothing new to him.”
Longtime tight end Rob Gronkowski did not have such a harsh view but could not believe that Brady wouldn’t root for the team he delivered six rings.
“Did he say he’s not rooting for the Patriots?,” Gronkowski said on “Up & Adams” earlier this week.
“He probably wants to be the quarterback, he’s that competitive. He probably wants to be the guy in the Super Bowl right now.”
Gronkowski clarified that in citing Brady’s competitiveness, he does not believe the quarterback feels that Maye winning the franchise’s first Super Bowl without Brady would take away from his legacy.
The Patriots own six championships, all with Brady under center, and will look to claim an NFL record seventh against the team they bested to grab their fourth championship.
Brady will not be on the call, with NBC having the broadcasting rights.
