Patriots, Rams and Chiefs named possible trade destinations for 3-time Pro Bowl WR

One of the hottest topics of conversation this offseason has been the future of A.J. Brown with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Trade rumors have swirled around Brown this year after the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver has publicly expressed frustration with the offense in recent years.

The current expectation is that if Brown is traded, it'll happen after June 1, when the dead-cap charge the Eagles would take on lowers from $43 million to $16 million, something ESPN's Adam Schefter pointed out recently.

"If the Eagles are gonna trade him it makes sense to do it post June 1," Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show.

If Brown does end up getting dealt, which seems to be inevitable, Bleacher Report's Joseph Zucker believes the New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs are three possible destinations for him.

"Romeo Doubs isn't a suitable solution to the team's need for a true No. 1 receiver, and Kayshon Boutte hasn't shown anything to warrant that kind of status, either," Zucker said of the Patriots' need at wide receiver. The Pats still have a lot of flexibility in terms of accommodating Brown's contract as well."

"Florio reported Los Angeles looked into trading Davante Adams, whose departure would've created a cleaner fit for Brown, both financially and within the offense," he said of a possible deal with the Rams. "With Adams' $6 million roster bonus going into effect, the blockbuster trade is harder to execute."

"The Chiefs are only $9.7 million under the salary cap, so GM Brett Veach would have to find some more savings to bring Brown to Kansas City," Zucker said of a possible trade for Brown this offseason. "When the draft hasn't yielded a worthy successor to Tyreek Hill, the front office may prefer to go for a sure thing."

The Patriots are rumored to be the favorite to land Brown, and it's not hard to see why they need to make this trade.

Even before cutting Stefon Diggs, the Patriots needed more help at wide receiver. Romeo Doubs was a nice addition in free agency, but that isn't enough, as the Patriots still lack a true No. 1 wideout.

The Rams were reportedly interested in Brown but have since pulled out of trade talks.

However, we wouldn't rule out Los Angeles revisiting this idea down the road, and they could offer Davante Adams in the package to give the Eagles the replacement they'll need if Brown is traded.

In Kansas City, the Chiefs need more firepower at wide receiver, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Rashee Rice, who could get himself suspended once again if the NFL's investigation into recent domestic violence allegations finds wrongdoing.

Ultimately, a trade to the Patriots feels like the most likely outcome.

New England has the means (cap space and draft picks) and motivation to land Brown, who also has a connection to head coach Mike Vrabel from their days together with the Tennessee Titans.
