The New England Patriots are 3-2 in the regular season, and that's despite some truly awful performances from Drake Maye and this team through the first five weeks.
However, Maye has looked like his MVP self from a year ago these past two weeks, and the Patriots got even more good news with the latest update on A.J. Brown.
Tom Pelissero of The Ringer reports that Brown is having his practice window opened ahead of Week 6, indicating that he'll return within the next couple of weeks, if not this weekend against the New York Jets.
Patriots activate A.J. Brown from IR, giving him a chance to play in Week 6
"The Patriots are opening WR A.J. Brown's practice window today," Pelissero reports. "Brown suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1 and went on IR. Everything is trending positively for him to return soon, and this is the next step."
This is some fantastic news for the Patriots, as it's apparent that Brown's IR stint will be on the shorter end of things this season.
Brown landed on IR following a high ankle sprain in Week 1's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He's had four weeks to recover, and now he's having his practice window opened.

He's not officially off injured reserve just yet, but this decision from the Patriots means he'll be eligible to come back within the next three weeks.
Brown is coming back to the Patriots offense, and it might even be as soon as this weekend against the Jets. They might also keep him out for one more week and bring him back for the Thursday Night game against the Chicago Bears in Week 7.
But even if they don't activate him just yet, this decision from the Patriots means Brown is close to coming back. He's one step closer to a return, which is well-timed for a red-hot Patriots offense.
