The New England Patriots had a successful draft, but like most teams, their draft was overlooked amid the Shedeur Sanders draft slide. The Cleveland Browns selected him with the 144th overall pick, and Tom Brady revealed what he told Sanders.
Brady himself was a late draft pick. The Patriots selected Brady with the 199th overall pick and he ended up becoming the greatest decision the franchise has ever made. He won six Super Bowls with the team and will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. During an appearance on "Impaulsive," Brady revealed his message to Sanders, whom he has trained with in the past.
"I actually texted Shedeur because I know him very well, and I said, 'Dude, whatever happens, wherever you go, that's your first day. Day 2 matters more than the draft. I was 199th, so who could speak on it better than me, like what that really means. Use it as motivation. You're going to get your chances. Go take advantage of it,'" Brady said on "Impaulsive."
Brady would be the first overall pick in any redraft of his 2000 NFL Draft class. He got his chance with the Patriots when Drew Bledsoe was injured. He took advantage of the opportunity and never looked back, just as he told Sanders to do.
Brady is currently a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and clarified that he was not part of any evaluations or draft decisions. Some members of the media thought Brady's involvement with the team and their passing on Sanders spoke volumes about Sanders. However, Brady set the record straight.

Sanders will have the opportunity to climb up the Browns' depth chart. The team's quarterback situation is a mess. Joe Flacco projects to be the starter, but injuries are a real concern at his age. The other quarterbacks he will be competing with are Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Gabriel was shockingly selected before Sanders. Brady should be the model for young players who slide in the NFL Draft. It's unrealistic for fans to think Sanders will have a Brady-like career, but it's not unrealistic to think he can outplay his draft position.
