Patriots and Cowboys predicted to show interest in $14 million 2-time Pro Bowl pass rusher

The New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys could be searching for pass-rush help ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

New England's edge-rusher group is looking solid with Harold Landry III, rookie Gabe Jacas, and Dre'Mont Jones, who signed a three-year deal this offseason. However, the Patriots could look to complete the unit by acquiring one more rotational piece.

As for Dallas, there are a lot of question marks surrounding the edge rusher position. The addition of Rashan Gary via trade from the Green Bay Packers should add some juice to the pass rush, but other than that, the Cowboys are relying on young players in Donovan Ezeiruaku and rookie Malachi Lawrence to carry the load opposite Gary.

The Patriots and Cowboys don't necessarily need to make a splash move for an edge rusher, but both teams could use a bit of extra help at the position this season, and that could come from the free-agent market.

Patriots and Cowboys named possible landing spots for Haason Reddick

Pro Football Network's Alex Kennedy listed New England and Dallas as potential landing spots for free agent edge rusher Haason Reddick, who spent the 2025 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"Similar to the aforementioned Clowney, Haason Reddick has now entered pass-rushing mercenary territory, having played for five teams in the last six years," Kennedy wrote.

Reddick started 12 games for Tampa Bay in 2025, tallying 2.5 sacks and 34 quarterback pressures with 19 defensive stops. After posting four straight seasons with double-digit sacks from 2020 to 2023, Reddick has fallen off a cliff over the last two seasons and is clearly past his prime.

Though Reddick is no longer the dominant force he once was back in his days with the Philadelphia Eagles, the two-time Pro Bowler can provide some value as a rotational pass rusher, which is something the Patriots and Cowboys could be interested in, as both franchises are in their Super Bowl windows and need to generate consistent pressure on the quarterback to achieve their goals.

Additionally, Reddick would be incredibly cheap to sign. The former first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals would likely accept a minimum deal at this point, given his dip in production in recent years and lack of interest in his services this offseason.

Overall, no team should expect Reddick to come in and make a sizeable impact on their pass rush. However, he may have something left in the tank, and his veteran experience makes him an intriguing option for contenders, like New England and Dallas, at this point in the offseason.
