Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather is in hospice care, the Chiefs quarterback’s mother, Randi Mahomes announced Friday.

The news came just two days before the Chiefs host the Bills in the AFC Championship game Sunday.

“My dad is in a hospice and I’m lost for words,” Randi wrote on her Instagram Story, including a photo of the father-daughter duo.

Randi previously shared posts about her father not being well last fall, but she did not disclose an exact diagnosis.

Mahomes and his wife Brittany have yet to publicly address the situation.

The couple are adjusting to life as a family of five while the three-time Super Bowl champ is chasing a third consecutive title with the Chiefs.

The NFL has never had a team win three straight Super Bowls.
