Patrick Mahomes delivers terrifying message over Chiefs offense

5 hours ago 1

The Kansas City Chiefs' offense was in terrifying form against the Las Vegas Raiders in a 31-0 thumping, but what might be even scarier is that there might be more to come.

The Chiefs scored on their first five possessions, going touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown before a field goal in the third quarter, and then Kansas City put the cue in the rack in the fourth quarter.

What was incredible is that those scoring drives were plays of 12, 20, 22, 13, and nine, so Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were, for lack of a better word, perfect.

But Mahomes, while happy with the performance, delivered a message that will send shivers down the spine of the rest of the NFL -- the offense can be better.

"You train so hard to have success on every drive, and when you're able to go out there and do that, it is something you're happy about," Mahomes said. "But at the same time, you know you got to continue to get better, and in this league, defenses adjust and they challenge you to be even better.

"We'll continue to build. I feel like we have a long ways to go and are just hitting our stride, but let's continue to get better and better as the season goes on."

Chiefs offense becoming a serious problem

Now, the type of performance the Chiefs had against the Raiders isn't realistic to think it will happen every week, but the fact that this group has that sort of performance in their locker means defenses will have sleepless nights figuring out how to stop all of Patrick's weapons.

Being efficient is what every offense craves, and the Chiefs achieved perfection against the Raiders, and that will be what the unit aims for each week. Given their weapons, it will be hard to slow everyone down.

After a 31-0 win, where the offense scored on five straight possessions and dismantled another professional defense, to hear Mahomes stay there is still a "long ways to go" for the offense is a scary thought.

Kansas City was near-perfect on Sunday, which leads me to one question: how much better can it get?
