Walking Calamity in Path of Exile 2 is a new primal Skill that allows you to rain down a meteor shower. It’s one of three ultimate Primal Skills added in the Last of the Druids update. The meteor shower covers the entire screen and deals a decent bit of damage. Additionally, you also gain extra Fire damage and Range generation while the Skill is active.
With a proper setup, you can keep the calamity active for most of the time. Here’s everything you need during the leveling and final setup to make the Walking Calamity Druid build work in Path of Exile 2.
Path of Exile 2 Druid leveling guide until Act 4
Ancestrally boosted Furious Slam will carry you through the leveling phase (Image via GGG)While raining down meteors through Walking Calamity seems fun, it won’t be available until Act 4. So your goal is to clear Acts 1-3 in Path of Exile 2 as quickly as possible. Start by unlocking the Volcano and Furious Slam, as both of the Skills have a good combo.
Cast Volcano and try to use Furious Slam around it to create more projectiles. You can use support gems like Multishot, Faster Attacks, and Magnified Area to make the build more efficient. As you get better Support Gems, use Fist of War to improve the damage done by Furious Slam.
The next Skill you’ll want is Pounce, which allows you to apply a Mark on an enemy. Defeating that enemy will spawn a Wolf companion. However, there’s another use. Casting the Skill will allow you to leap to enemies at a distance, making your journey much quicker.
Create Molten Fissures with Fury of the Mountain and activate them with a Slam (Image via GGG)Once you get a Tier 5 Uncut Skill Gem, get Fury of the Mountain to make lava fissures with attacks. You can automate them using a Shockwave Totem or your own Furious Slam. Adding Ferocious Roar will allow you to break armor with attacks, or you can socket other Warcries on it, as it’s a Meta Gem.
The final addition will be Rampage. It allows you to channel the Rage you built up to go on a rampage across the map, slamming the ground and one-shotting most enemies. When paired with Herald of Ash, you’ll explode everyone in a small AoE.
This is what the leveling phase was for me. The only issue I’ve found is that you’re prone to stun from larger enemy attacks, which can stop your attack, so either invest in Stun Threshold or position yourself properly while using a Skill.
Path of Exile 2 Walking Calamity Druid build setup
Walking Calamity is one of the best Skills you'll use in PoE2 (Image via GGG)After you complete at least two of the Ascendancy Trials in Path of Exile and reach level 52, you can use Walking Calamity. If you haven’t unlocked the Skill, using a level 13 Uncut Skill Gem will get you one. Here’s what your early endgame setup may look like:
- Maul: Close Combat - Rapid Attacks - Rage - Ancestral Call
- Furious Slam: Fist of War - Aftershock - Rapid Attacks - Close Combat - Magnified Area
- Rampage: Momentum - Magnified Area - Heft - Burgeon - Stomping Ground
- Walking Calamity: Concentrated Area - Elemental Armament - Prolonged Duration - Fire Attunement
- Ferocious Roar: Raging Cry - Infernal Cry - Magnified Area - Efficiency
- Herald of Ash: Magnified Area - Cannibalism
You can add Fury of the Mountain to create lava fissures on the ground, which will activate when using Slam Skill, but it’s not necessary, as the other Skills can already take down enemies without any issues. It’s where you get to be creative.
Use Ferocious Roar to boost your attacks (Image via GGG)Normally, I’d use Maul to fill up Walking Calamity and Rampage around. Since now you have a constant source of Rage generation, the process is a lot faster, allowing you to activate the Skill more often. While bossing, build up the stun meter through Maul and Furious Slam.
Just as the boss is about to be stunned, use your Warcry along with Walking Calamity, and start rampaging around. A single hit will knock the boss unconscious, allowing you to run around in circles and watch the enemy's HP bar disappear.

Try to get a Talisman with good Physical damage and additional melee Skill level (Image via GGG)A majority of your damage comes from the passive tree, weapon, and rings following the latest Path of Exile 2 update, with armor mainly focusing on defense and utility. However, there are a few stats you’ll want to chase to make the build stronger.
These are ‘+Level of all Melee Skills’ on weapon, amulet, and gloves, along with additional Spirit on the armor and amulet. Here are the recommended modifiers you’ll want on your gear throughout the endgame. Note that you can also gain bonus stats from Socketables in PoE2 by using Wisdom of the MajI Ascendancy passive.
| Gear | Affixes |
| Weapon (use Rabid Talisman for Rage) | - Level of all Melee Skills - Increased Physical Damage - Added Fire/Physical Damage - Critical Hit Chance |
| Helmet | - Increased Armour - Resistances - Life/Mana - % Armour also applies to Elemental Damage |
| Amulet | - Level of all Melee Skills - Critical Damage - Item Rarity - Increased Global Defences |
| Armor | - Increased Armour - Mana - Life - Resistances - % Armour also applies to Elemental Damage |
| Rings | - Life/Mana - Mana Regen - Added Flat Damage to Attacks - Resistances - Attack Damage Leeched as Life |
| Gloves | - Level of all Melee Skills - Life - Resistances - Added Flat Damage to Attacks |
| Belt | - Life - Flat Armour - Resistances - Stun Threshold |
| Boots | - Movement Speed - Item Rarity - Increased Armour - % Armour also applies to Elemental Damage - Resistances |
There are also a few Unique gears that complement the build. Druid’s own passive tree features several attack and spell-based nodes, which you can make use of through various Uniques. For instance, the Crown of the Eyes Unique Helm will improve your attacks based on the increase and reduction in spell damage.
Another popular Unique is the Constricting Command Viper Cap, which reduces the number of enemies you need to get the ‘Surrounded’ buff. It was nerfed in PoE2 patch 0.4, but it is still a viable option as you’re mainly using melee attacks. Note that Godroll for this item can be a little expensive.

Best Skill tree setup for leveling Walking Calamity Druid in Path of Exile 2
Passive tree setup for Walking Calamity Druid (Image via PoB || GGG)Here’s what your passive tree in PoE2 may look like around level 70. A majority of the nodes used in the build are damage-based, which is something you’ll find in abundance. However, there are a few key Notables that will massively affect your damage.
For example, Bestial Rage grants you 12% increased physical damage for every 10 rage. When paired with nodes alongside Primal Fury, Vengeful Fury, and Battle Trance, you get a lot of defense and damage increase.
Here’s the Ascendancy priority:
- Reactive Growth
- Turning of the Seasons
- Druidic Champion and Furious Wellspring (respec Turning of the Seasons)
- Wisdom of the Maji or Turning of the Seasons (depends on your build and preference)
Reactive Growth and Turning of the Seasons provides a good layer of defense and inflicts enemies with the Exposure debuff, making your fights easier. I went this route due to low resistances until the end of Act 4, but if you’re confident in your defenses, you can assign Furious Wellspring as soon as you complete the Trail of Chaos in Path of Exile 2 during Act 3.
