Sergei Bobrovsky will always be a legend in the story of the Florida Panthers.
Two playoff runs in a row, he led the Panthers to the Stanley Cup with his stellar play in goal.
This season, though, wasn't the same. Bobrovsky wasn't on the same level, and neither were the injury-plagued Panthers. Their chances to three-peat ended early when they didn't even make it to the postseason.
And now, Bobrovsky is a free agent. His contract is up, and he and the rest of the NHL will have to decide on his next step.
On paper, Bobrovsky is declining, and that makes sense.
But he's also the guy who in the spring of 2024 and the spring of 2025 led Stanley Cup runs. So there's a bit of a mixed bag on how to assess him.
It's also not clear whether the Panthers want him back. If they do, that seems like they'd be the favorite to get a contract done.

Sergei Bobrovsky contract value
Whoever signs Bobrovsky is going to have to decide what he's worth.
The reality is that at his advanced age, it won't be a long deal. AFP Analytics projects it'll be a two-year pact with whoever Bobrovsky signs on with.
The contract projection goes on to give Bobrovsky an annual average value of $5.595 million per year, for a total value over two years of $11.19 million.
That's something a lot of teams in need of a goalie could afford. The question is whether Bobrovsky will get bid up to a higher number, and if he's worth that if his play doesn't rebound to a previous level.
Someone will take the chance on Bobrovsky, but it'll be a little while until the hockey world knows who it is and for how much.
