Panthers make decision on trading Sergei Bobrovsky, A.J. Greer

The Florida Panthers have about two days to decide what to do with two impending unrestricted free agents, Sergei Bobrovsky and A.J. Greer.

The NHL trade deadline is Friday at 3 p.m. ET. If the Panthers are going to deal either of these guys away, it'll have to happen before then.

And on that front, the Panthers have made process in their train of thought. According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Panthers will listen to calls for both players.

"The Panthers lost again last night and my understanding is they've made the decision to be sellers as far as listening on pending UFAs, which most notably include the likes of AJ. Greer and Sergei Bobrovsky," LeBrun wrote Wednesday morning on X. "Bobrovsky has a 16-team no-trade list. Doesn't mean he will be dealt for sure, just means Florida is listening."

Moving Bobrovsky would be a big deal because of what he has meant to Florida. The Panthers have won back-to-back Stanley Cups in part because of how Bobrovsky has played in those two playoff runs.

He's struggled a lot more this season, and so an acquiring team would be hoping a change of scenery and the jolt of another postseason could get Bobrovsky back into that kind of championship-winning form.

Greer has a career-high 11 goals as part of 22 points this season, so he's at least on the upswing and could be a low-risk rental for another squad.

It's notable by itself that the Panthers have decided to sell. Yes, it'd be a tough path to chase down a playoff position, but this is a team that entered the season seeking a three-peat.

Instead, Florida might be trying to move into its next era, and it'll certainly feel that way if Bobrovsky gets dealt.
