The Dallas Wings knew what they were getting when they made Paige Bueckers the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, but even they might not have expected this level of immediate impact.

Just one day before being sidelined with a right knee injury, Bueckers turned in another electric performance against the Indiana Fever: 27 points, six assists, two blocks, two steals and a rebound—without a single turnover. It was her sixth game this season with 20 or more points, more than any other rookie in the league.
Now, she’s out, and the timing couldn’t be worse.

With a 4–13 record and a roster riddled with injuries, the Wings are clinging to any momentum they can find. Unfortunately, the player carrying most of the load is now sidelined. Bueckers currently leads the team in points, assists, steals and blocks per game. She’s not just a promising rookie—she’s the heart of the team.
