Padres' Fernando Tatis, Royals' Bobby Witt 2 of 19 qualified hitters without a HR this season

Hitting is hard.

You can prove that by looking at the list of hitters who have yet to notch a home run so far this season. That list includes San Diego Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. and Kansas City Royals stud Bobby Witt Jr.

They're two of 19 qualified hitters yet to leave the yard this season.

A qualified hitter is someone who has had at least 3.1 plate appearances per team game played so far this season.

This is the full list through Monday, April 20:

  • Fernando Tatis Jr.
  • Bobby Witt Jr.
  • Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  • Mike Yastrzemski
  • Jeff McNeil
  • Luis Arraez
  • TJ Friedl
  • Luis Rengifo
  • Ernie Clement
  • Nasim Nunez
  • Michael Busch
  • Josh Smith
  • Spencer Torkelson
  • Nick Gonzales
  • Caleb Durbin
  • Matt McLain
  • Jakob Marsee
  • Justin Crawford
  • Chandler Simpson

Based on raw power, it's also quite surprising that Chisholm, Busch and Torkelson have yet to homer this season.

There's already been conversation on social media this season that the best chance the Rays' Simpson has of a HR this season is to hit an inside-the-parker -- of which he is very capable.

You'd likely say that Tatis and Witt are very, very due. And when a good hitter gets hot, look out.

There could be power outbursts on the way, but so far, these homerless streaks are a bit surprising.
