It was an incredible night around Major League Baseball on Monday, despite the rivalry between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers.

While they're one of the biggest rivalries in sports, it was great to see Shohei Ohtani back on the mound as a baseball fan. Ohtani, one of the best to ever lace them up, if not the best, started in the game for the Dodgers on the mound.

This was his first time starting a game as a pitcher for the Dodgers, and he made some history in the process.

According to the great Sarah Langs, Ohtani's 79 home runs are the most in Dodgers’ history by a player to start at least one game on the mound for them.

“Shohei Ohtani’s 79 home runs are the most in Dodgers’ history by a player to start at least 1 game on the mound for them

“Next-most: Don Drysdale, 29 HR,” she wrote.

Ohtani has continued to break numerous records throughout his career, showcasing the type of player he is.

A guaranteed Hall of Famer, the three-time Most Valuable Player winner is currently hitting .292 with 25 home runs and a 178 OPS+.

The Padres failed to get the job done during the series, dropping three of four games against their rival.
