The Green Bay Packers have benefited greatly this season from Romeo Doubs' emergence as a No. 1 wide receiver.
It just won't help them in contract negotiations.
Doubs is making $3.4 million this season, but he'll be a free agent at the end of the year.
And because of his play this season, Doubs has worked his way out of a bargain situation, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
"Green Bay could bring him back, but that might be a challenge this close to free agency," Fowler wrote. "He has played his way out of a bargain deal, serving as Green Bay's No. 1 receiver throughout the first 10 weeks. Though teams don't consider Doubs the type of field stretcher who must be double-teamed consistently, he gets open, he's tough and he's sure-handed."

Doubs had been viewed since the offseason as a potential trade candidate, but the Packers never found a good enough reason to deal him.
Instead, they'll have to make a decision on his free agency.
Green Bay will have a lot of wideouts back next season, so Doubs could be seen as surplus to proceedings.
By the same token, it's Doubs that has led the crowded group this season. Maybe he's exactly who the Packers should focus on getting back.
It'll be some kind of deal in the $10 to $20 million per year range, likely dependent in part on how the rest of this season goes.
Doubs won't be a bargain anymore, that's for sure.
