Packers' Micah Parsons receives wild Hall of Fame projection from ESPN analyst

The Green Bay Packers stunned in the NFL last offseason, acquiring Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys in a blockbuster trade that's still far from over a year later.

But, even with Parsons only playing in 14 games last season, the Packers' superstar has already impressed in Green Bay. With how dominant he's been, any projection for 2026, even with Parsons slated to miss the start of the year due to injury, is feasible.

ESPN's Bill Barnwell, while not projecting his 2026 season, but his future odds for the Hall of Fame, made a wild projection that Parsons is already, heading into his sixth NFL season, on the cusp of making the Hall of Fame.

"On the cusp: Edge Micah Parsons," Barnwell writes. "Parsons is facing a late start to the 2026 season after tearing his ACL in December, but he was already well on his way to becoming a Hall of Fame lock."

Barnwell continues, "... I might feel like Parsons was already in if he had won a Defensive Player of the year award or two over his first five seasons, but even without one, he's close."

This is a very bold projection from Barnwell, as he's already saying that Parsons, before even playing his sixth season in the NFL, is already on the cusp of making the Hall of Fame.

It's quite the impressive resume for Parsons in just five years in the NFL since being drafted No. 12 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He is a five-time Pro Bowler, three-time first-team All-Pro, 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year, and has been a second-team All-Pro and Defensive Player of the Year runner-up, along with two third-place Defensive Player of the Year finishes.

In five seasons, four with the Cowboys and one with the Packers, Parsons has 65 sacks with 297 tackles, 75 tackles for loss, 129 quarterback hits, a fumble-recovery touchdown, 11 forced fumbles, and 10 passes defended. All of that before turning 27 years old.

Parsons is without a doubt on the path to the Hall of Fame at this rate, but for Barnwell to already claim that Parsons is on the cusp of being a Hall of Famer is a very bold projection to make.

Calling Parsons a future Hall of Famer isn't a bold claim at all. But to say he's already on the cusp of enshrinement before his sixth season in the league is a very bold claim to make.
