Packers cut rumor involving two-time Pro Bowler is great news for Lions, Bills, Chargers

It looks like the Green Bay Packers will be cutting ties with Pro Bowl offensive lineman Elgton Jenkings in the coming weeks.

According to Sports Illustrated's Bill Huber, Green Bay is "widely expected" to release Jenkins before the new league year kicks off on March 11.

The Packers would save $19.5 million by moving on from Jenkings this offseason.

"At age 30, coming off a season-ending injury and failing to get anywhere close to “All-Pro” expectations, Jenkins is widely expected to be released before the start of the league-year," Huber said.

Jenkins entered the league in 2019 as a second-round pick by Green Bay. He has started 96 games in his career, earning two Pro Bowl selections and showcasing his versatility at three positions: left guard, center, and right tackle.

However, a leg injury limited Jenkings to just nine games in 2025, leading to questions about his future with the Packers.

With Jenkins set to hit the market soon, the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, and Buffalo Bills should have interest in the veteran offensive line.

Detroit could use an upgrade over Christian Mahogany at left guard, and Jenkins would be the perfect offseason acquisition from general manager Brad Holmes to bolster the Lions' offensive line.

Los Angeles and Buffalo have their starting left guards, Zion Johnson and David Edwards, hitting free agency this offseason.

If neither team can retain their starters, the Chargers and Bills could fight for Jenkins' services.

If he gets released by the Packers, Jenkins should receive plenty of interest, especially from Detroit, Los Angeles, and Buffalo.
