Just because Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) story might be close to wrapping up, that doesn’t mean Starz is finished with the romantic world of Outlander. A brand new Outlander prequel series, called Outlander: Blood of My Blood, will debut on Starz this Summer. The new series will not only show fans how Jamie’s parents, Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater), fell in love in early 18th century Scotland, but also how Claire’s parents, Lieutenant Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield), connected against the violent backdrop of World War I.
We already know much about how Jamie’s parents were star-crossed lovers in the Scottish highlands. In early seasons of Outlander, we learned that Ellen was the spirited daughter of a major laird, beloved by all, including brothers Colum (Gary Lewis) and Dougal (Graham McTavish). Brian was the bastard son of Lord Lovat (Clive Russell). Needless to say, there’s was a forbidden love.
What we know less about is how Claire’s parents fell in love. Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston died tragically when Claire was young, so she remembers little of them. Outlander: Blood of My Blood might fill in those tantalizing gaps…
So what exactly is Outlander: Blood of My Blood about? Who’s playing the younger versions of our favorite Outlander characters? Here’s everything we know so far about Outlander: Blood of My Blood…
What is Outlander: Blood of My Blood About?
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is about how Jamie Fraser’s and Claire Fraser’s own parents fell in love. Starz’s official press release for the series teases, “From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, two fated love stories must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways.”
So basically Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be split between the drama that unfolded in the Highlands when Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie fell in love and the early 20th century wartime romance of Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston. (Note that the teaser suggests the latter couple might be communicating via letters? If so, we LOVE an epistolary romance.)
When Does Outlander: Blood of My Blood Come Out on Starz?
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will come out on Starz during Summer 2025! Which is good news for Outlander fans facing the final Droughtlander after the Outlander Season 7 finale airs on Friday, January 17, 2025. There will be more Outlander this summer!
