Oscar Piastri shared an inspirational message with the McLaren F1 team during his recent visit to the outfit's headquarters in Woking. The Australian driver expressed an optimistic outlook for the remainder of the 2025 season and said he is confident that he and the team will be able to iron out the 'bumps in the road' on his side of the garage.
Oscar Piastri led the drivers' world championship for 15 rounds in 2025 before Lando Norris moved ahead at the Mexico City GP. Since then, Norris has opened up a 24-point lead after the Brazilian GP. This gap has widened due to Piastri's recent dip in form, especially since his P3 finish at the Italian GP, which remains his most recent podium.
But after another difficult weekend in Brazil, the 24-year-old has not given up hope of winning the drivers' title this year. His determination shone through in the inspirational speech he shared with the McLaren team at the MTC, as seen on the British team's Instagram account.
"I think for me the main message I wanted to share was that there's gonna be bumps in the road. I think, as a team we'll get over them and I'm certainly trying my hardest to iron out those bumps and get back on track to where we have been earlier in the season," he said. "But, I've got a lot of confidence in myself, I've got a lot of confidence in the team directly around me, and in everyone here that we'll be able to do that, and get the two McLaren's back to the top," he added. With three rounds to go and a 24-point gap, Lando Norris is now the favourite to claim his first drivers' title. But Piastri still has three races and a sprint to turn it around if his teammate slips up even a little.

The younger driver poked fun at his teammate, calling him the "old man of the team".
Piastri reminded Norris that he was once again two years older than him, as he said:
"Alright, it's Lando Norris' birthday today, Happy Birthday. I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you, you are now two years older than me once again. So yeah, you're the old man of the team. We're actually getting old now, it's getting a bit scary. But enjoy your day and I will see you soon, no doubt."At 26, Norris could become McLaren’s second youngest world champion after Lewis Hamilton, who won his first title at 23 in 2008. He could even secure the crown as early as the Qatar GP, a scenario few imagined given how tight the 2025 title fight has been.
