Orioles took an 8-0 lead and then somehow lost to AL East rival anyway

It's been a nightmare season for the Baltimore Orioles.

Such a nightmare, in fact, that even an 8-0 lead wasn't safe.

After two innings on Wednesday night, Baltimore led the Tampa Bay Rays, 8-0.

When nine innings were in the book, the Orioles still had 8 runs, and the Rays had 12.

Remarkably, Tampa Bay out-hit Baltimore, 18-7.

The Orioles scored all eight of their runs in the second inning.

The Rays responded with three in the third, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and four in the seventh.

The go-ahead hit was an RBI single by Junior Caminero. The superstar third baseman had a monster night, going 4-for-5.

Jonathan Aranda added three hits, and the trio of Yandy Diaz, Curtis Mead and Christopher Morel each had two hits.

The win was huge for the Rays to keep pace at the top of the AL East. They're now 41-33.

The Orioles, on the other hand, are 31-42, and at this point, it doesn't seem like it's getting much better for them.
