WASHINGTON — BC Natural Resources Forum (BCNRF) hosts energy leaders from both the public and private sectors and promotes itself as a nonpartisan event where attendees discuss and learn firsthand about the latest news, trends, and opportunities in the resource sector in BC and across Canada. Against that backdrop, Krishnan Suthanthiran—President and Founder of Kitsault Energy—has raised serious concerns after his request to speak at the forum was declined.

Kitsault Energy is a forward-looking energy development project located northwest of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, with a vision aligned with global priorities in energy security, infrastructure development, and long-term sustainability. In accordance with BCNRF’s stated mission to facilitate firsthand discussion and learning regarding emerging news, trends, and opportunities, Suthanthiran questions why a project of this scope and relevance was excluded from the conversation. “In a time when the world is actively seeking innovative and collaborative approaches to energy development, it is troubling that a project like Kitsault Energy was not afforded the opportunity to participate,” said Suthanthiran. “If BCNRF is truly committed to exploring the numerous opportunities that are evolving, then emerging projects with transformative potential should not be sidelined.”

In recent weeks, Suthanthiran and the Kitsault Energy team have made significant progress engaging with senior government officials and stakeholders, while also increasing public awareness of the project through national and international media. Most notably, The Vancouver Sun recently featured Kitsault Energy, highlighting Suthanthiran’s long-term vision to transform the former ghost town of Kitsault into a major energy hub. That coverage has since been picked up by multiple wire services, further amplifying global interest in the project.

Given this growing momentum, the decision by BC Natural Resources Forum organizers to downplay—or overlook entirely—the importance of Kitsault Energy raises questions about how speaking platforms are allocated and which voices are prioritized at such influential gatherings. As governments and industry leaders seek scalable, future-ready energy solutions, excluding projects with demonstrated vision and international relevance risks undermining the very goals BCNRF claims to champion.

Article content

Kitsault Energy remains committed to constructive engagement with governments, industry partners, and global forums that value open dialogue, innovation, and collaboration. The company continues to advocate for inclusive discussions that reflect the full spectrum of ideas needed to meet global energy demands.
