Oppo officially confirmed the ColorOS 17 global launch for October 13 next week, and OnePlus just opened up registrations for OnePlus users to get an early taste of the software.

OnePlus 15 receives ColorOS 17 Open Beta just days before the official OS launch

Notably, this isn't the final build of the software that OnePlus is seeding, of course, it's the ColorOS 17 Open Beta. For now, only Indian users can apply and get early access, and the application window is running from October 9 through October 12, just a day before the official release.

If you are eligible for an update, make sure to back up your data before installing because it's not a final build, so various issues may arise. Going back to OxygenOS 16 is also possible using OnePlus' rollback package, but this will erase all your data for sure.

This will mark the end of OxygenOS for OnePlus 15 users as they will permanently migrate to ColorOS once the final build arrives.

Oppo has been very secretive with its latest software, however, and the company is teasing stuff like "fluid motion" and "refined visuals," so expect a UI overhaul and nicer animations in addition to the new features, which will be revealed on October 13.
