The Chargers running back bullied his way into the end zone at SoFi Stadium with three Cardinals defenders trying to stop him at one point.
The nine-yard rushing touchdown highlighted why Hampton is regarded as one of the toughest running backs in the league.
Mike McDaniel’s offense was in full swing on the Chargers’ first drive of the season against Arizona. Ladd McConkey wrapped up 60 yards on three catches, resembling the explosive playmaker he was during his rookie season.
Justin Herbert went 3-for-3 on the drive as he looks to become the fourth-fastest quarterback to 25,000 career passing yards. He entered the Chargers’ season opener needing just 180 yards to achieve the feat.
While the Chargers offense got off to a strong start to tie Arizona at 7, Hampton fumbled the ball on the following drive. The second-year back dealt with injury throughout his rookie season, but has much to prove in his sophomore season in LA.
Hampton’s rushing touchdown was an example of how high the ceiling is for the 23-year-old.
