This might be the only time these A-listers count as B-team.

While the likes of Usher and Stanley Tucci would normally be at the center of the spotlight, at the 2026 Olympics in Milano Cortina, all eyes are on the Team USA athletes as they go for gold.

With household names like Mikaela Shiffrin, Alex Hall, Lindsey Vonn, Chloe Kim and Alex Ferreira rounding out the veteran side of the team, there are exciting first-time or second-time Olympians such as Alysa Liu, Ilia Malinin and Mary Bocock that are eager to prove they’ve got what it takes to land on top.

Nevertheless, the Opening Ceremony on Feb. 6 were still a star-studded affair as the Games officially kicked off across its two main locations of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. (Olympic events will also take place, however, at Valtellina and Val di Fiemme during the Games.)

Helping to ring in the festivities was Mariah Carey, who—while clad in a $15 million necklace from LEVUMA High Jewellery—performed "Volare" in Italian

Meanwhile, Olympian Shaun White joined NBC's Terry Gannon and Mary Carillo—who replaced Savannah Guthrie amid her mom's disappearance—to host the event.

Also in Milan to take in the Opening Ceremony were Wicked’s Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum, Maggie Rogers, Marisa Tomei and Katherine LaNasa

And though Taylor Swift couldn’t make it to Italy to cheer on Team USA, she shared a special message with the American athletes ahead of the festivities.

“I just want to say thank you,” she said during NBC’s broadcast. “Getting to learn your stories and see everything you've sacrificed and all your determination, hard work and passion, everything that's gotten you this point where you're so excellent at something—it's just really inspiring. And I am very grateful for everything you’ve done to get to this point in your life, and grateful that you brought us all along.

The Grammy winner added, “Wishing you all the best of luck and a safe journey. This is an experience that you will cherish for the rest of your life.”
