Olivia Munn Playfully Reveals How She Was "Gaslit" By Her, John Mulaney's Daughter
Olivia Munn is taking her toddler's latest milestone one day at a time.
As the New Girl actor and husband John Mulaney’s daughter Méi June, 18 months, continues to reach new levels in her talking stage, navigating her expanding vocabulary has come with some charming side effects.
“The only thing that’s a bit confusing is that she says ‘No’ to things that she means no about, but also means yes? She will get mad if you don’t know the difference,” Olivia told E! News’ Will Marfuggi in an exclusive joint interview with Your Friends & Neighbors costar James Marsden. “Being in communication with a toddler makes you feel gaslit all the time.”
The 45-year-old jokingly added, “I’m like, ‘What’s going on? I’m trying my best! I’m trying my best and it’s not good enough.’”
However, Méi isn’t the only family member that’s showing off her personality. Olivia also noted her and John’s son Malcolm, 4, has been working on his comedic timing since he joined his dad on his Mister Whatever tour earlier this year.
“He wanted to be on stage when the audience came out, and he was like, ‘They need to see my face!’” The Newsroom alum recalled. “‘I was like, ‘What?’ Then he ran out on stage, so John had to run after him and carry him back like a log. And later, he goes, ‘When I was onstage, everybody clapped and they were thinking: How did John Mulaney get so small? But it was me the whole time.’"
But Malcolm hasn’t limited his humor to one stage. In fact, the little one tested a hilarious yet unplanned joke at his parents’ wedding in July 2024.
“Over the summer, he was a 2-year-old,” John, 43, explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last March. “He was at our wedding in a little tuxedo and shorts. He actually went to the bathroom in his diaper during [the wedding] and announced it mid-vows. A very sweaty little 2-year-old in a tuxedo just went, ‘I’m pooping!’”

And it’s those lighthearted memories with the couple’s kids that have meant so much, especially as Olivia continues to face some difficult moments in her battle with breast cancer.
“This moment was last summer when I had already had three surgeries and recovery—mentally and physically—was pretty rough,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories last April, sharing a precious video of her and Malcom playing in a kiddie pool. “The smallest, silliest moments like this lifted me up every single time. My Malcolm.”
