Late in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's home win over the Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles frightened an entire fanbase with one roll of her ankle.
In the fourth quarter of a 96-87 win at Target Center, Miles turned her ankle accidentally as she collided with the Sparks' Rae Burrell. She walked off the court with assistance from the Minnesota training staff, but it was clear that she was in a lot of pain and did not return to the game.

However, Miles' prominent limp started to disappear after the final horn sounded. She was able to do the Lynx's "Electric Slide" celebration with her teammates as they improved to 19-6 this season.
Most encouragingly though, Miles had only a slight limp as she walked down the tunnel, allowing fans to breathe a sigh of relief over the rookie's status going forward.

— Ahmad Hicks (@AhmadHicksTV) July 15, 2026The Lynx are off until Saturday, when they welcome the Portland Fire to Minneapolis. That should give Miles a couple days to recover from what looked like a nasty ankle turn.
Miles is the heavy favorite to win Rookie of the Year honors. She scored 18 points and dished out five assists in Wednesday's win, and for the season, she is averaging 19.4 points, 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting better than 50 percent from the field.
