Oliver Kahn highlights primary reason for Bayern Munich's transfer window debacle

Bayern Munich have had a tough summer transfer window in convincing players to join the Bavarians.

The German champions would like to think that they have found stability with manager Vincent Kompany, but they have had their fair share of chopping and changing managers before finalising on the Belgian.

There has been a sense of uncertainty among the Bayern camp since the dismissal of former manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Former Bayern goalkeeper and CEO Oliver Kahn recently slammed the current board members for lack of continuity at the club.

He highlighted this as one of the many reasons for players and coaches rejecting the club, due to no continuity and stability in Bavaria.

"Many coaches have come and gone. As a result, the philosophies and ideas have changed time and time again, as has the squad. It always feels like a constant shake-up. That naturally creates a kind of unrest," Kahn said in an interaction with Sky Sports Germany

"Don't get me wrong, I'm also self-critical enough. During my time, there was this very issue of continuity in all areas, I would have liked to have done things better. But that's something many players and coaches say: 'I have to think about it very carefully'"

Kahn served the club from 2021-23 as the CEO, and during that time, Bayern went through a lot of changes, which have led to this current condition.

Bayern Munich have failed to land their priority targets

Bayern Munich were in the race to sign Florian Wirtz as they were tracking the young German for the last few years during his time at Bayer Leverkusen.

The German champions tried their level best to convince Wirtz to move to Bavaria, but the 22-year-old decided to join Premier League champions Liverpool.

Later, Bayern shifted their focus to Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams, who also preferred a move to Barcelona than coming to Germany.

Eventually, he extended his contract with Bilbao, but his preference was playing at Barcelona rather than Bayern.

Similarly, the German champions have struggled to secure deals for Liverpool's Luis Diaz and Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade.

While Liverpool are asking for a whopping transfer fee, Stuttgart are not even bothered to negotiate with Bayern despite tabling a record offer for Woltemade.

The latest reports suggest that Bayern Munich are desperate to push for Diaz and have put the move for Woltemade on hold.
