Oklahoma football coach Brent Venables continues his recent roll on the recruiting trail.

Monday night, Venables and the Sooners landed the commitment of Daniel Norman, a 6-4, 220-pound Class of 2026 defensive lineman from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Norman picked the Sooners over such schools as Miami, Colorado and UCLA. Knowing that the location of the Oklahoma campus in Norman wasn’t lost on Daniel Norman when he said this to On3 recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett.

A four-star edge rusher, Norman is ranked the No. 38 Class of ’26 player at that position by On3, which also lists him as the No. 54 player in Florida. On3 also reported that Norman made his official visit to the OU campus this past weekend and was impressed to go ahead and commit to the Sooners.

As a junior for St. Thomas Aquinas last season, Norman recorded more than 30 tackles and had seven sacks.

With the latest commitment by Norman, Oklahoma has now secured eight of its current 13 Class of ’26 commitments this month alone, ranging from various states. Those include Celina (Texas) quarterback Bowe Bentley and Beau Jandreau, a linebacker from Hamilton High in Chandler (Arizona).

Other OU commits this month include Raymore-Peculiar (Missouri) running back DeZephen Walker, Midlothian (Texas) offensive lineman Noah Best, Bryant (Arkansas) edge rusher Matthew Nelson, Murrieta Valley (California) cornerback Derrick Johnson and Overland Park (Kansas) Blue Valley Northwest placekicker Trace Rudd.

OU is currently No. 21 in the latest On3 team Class of ’26 recruiting rankings.
